Aakanksha (A Project for students with Specific Needs) is a holistic venture of Veda Vyasa D.A.V Public School, Vikaspuri, New Delhi. The project is gaining momentum with each passing year bringing a ray of hope and optimism in the lives of many children. The students of Aakansha participate actively in all competition and have won laurels at National Level special Olympics. The project started started under the guidance of reverent Principal Ms. Chitra Nakra, the incharge Mrs. Manju Mehta today is flourishing because of the thought process "Religion of beauty, virtue, equality, humaneness and universal man.

Aakanksha Centre was set up as a unit of the school in August 1998 under the auspices of D.A.V College Managing committe. This little sapling which was planted a few years ago, has now grown into a replendent tree with blossoms. With just 5 children and 1 special Education on its branches, the tree has now blossomed with 125 children and 13 Special Educators.
